Dr Harsh Kanhere and Dr Markus Trochsler are highly trained and experienced surgeons providing a broad range of General and Specialist Surgical Services.
As Head of Units at the Royal Adelaide Hospital respectively the Queen Elizabeth Hospital they work closely together across sites. They are also involved in teaching and research, an environment that continuously informs their practice.
General Surgery
Dr Kanhere and Dr Trochsler offer common surgical procedures such as hernia repairs, gall bladder removal, treatment of lipomas and cysts, treatment of Carpal tunnel syndrome and vasectomies.
Upper Gastrointestinal, Hepato-biliary and Pancreatic Surgery
They are specialists in management of conditions of the oesophagus, stomach, liver, bile ducts, gallbladder and pancreas. This includes treatment of cancer as well as benign diseases such as gastrointestinal reflux and hiatus hernias.
Bariatric Surgery - Weight Loss Surgery
The expertise includes weight loss surgery and procedures such as sleeve gastrectomy and the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. With the operation being only one element in weight loss management they do follow a multidisciplinary approach and work closely with dieticians and other specialist to provide a holistic care.
Endoscopy
They perform endoscopies to diagnose and, sometimes, treat conditions such as reflux disease, hiatus hernia as well as cancers that affect the upper part of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach and beginning of the small intestine (duodenum).
Where possible and safe, Dr Kanhere and Dr Trochsler apply minimally invasive surgery techniques. They limit the size and number of cuts or incisions. The benefits are that patients will usually recover more quickly, spend less time in hospital, and feel more comfortable while they heal.
They are happy to discuss the different types of minimally invasive surgeries, the conditions that can be treated, and the benefits and risks of each type.
